What does the Snake registration cost?

The Snake Creek Gap Time Trial Series is a 2 race Mtn Bike time trial held each winter on the challenging Pinhoti Trail south of Dalton, GA. NWGA SORBA began “The Snake” in 2005 and 2025 will be the 21st consecutive year. Details of the event are as follows:

Dates for 2025: February 8th and March 15th
34 mile and 17 mile

Fee schedule (One fee covers both races):
Non-Money Class – $115 – November 25, 2024 – December 31, 2024
Non-Money Class – $125 – January 1, 2025 – January 26, 2025
Non-Money Class – $135 – January 27, 2025 – March 15, 2025
Money Class – $185
17 Milers – $100
Juniors – $85

(Note: This is a point-to-point race. Shuttles are provided from the Trade Center to the Starting Locations)

Is there race day registration?

No race day registration is available for either race. However, you can register on-site Friday evening February 7 and March 14, before the race from 5:00PM to 8PM. This registration is only available at the Snake Pit at the Dalton Convention Center.

Where does the race start for the 17 Miler?

The 17 Miler starts at the Pinhoti Trailhead at Snake Creek Gap off GA Route 136.
Race check-in is also here starting at 9:30 AM on race day for the 17 mile race. The Start Time for the 17 Miler will be at 10:00 AM.

Where does the race start for the 34 Miler?

The 34 Miler starts at the Dry Creek Parking Lot, which is off of Forest Service Road 226. Turn on FS 226 and follow the signs to the the Dry Creek Trailhead, which is a large horse trailer parking lot. PLEASE follow the flow of the signs shown below. These roads are very narrow and there are several blind spots making the roads not suitable for oncoming or two way traffic. One way in and a different way out.

Race check-in is also here starting at 8AM on race day for the 34 mile race.
The Start Time for the 34 Miler will be at 9AM.

What are the cut off times for the race?

The cutoff time for all 34 miler racers is to reach Snake Creek Gap parking lot by 1:00 PM (leaving 17 Miles remaining to Finish Line).

The cutoff time for all 34 miler racers is to then reach Middle Mountain by 3:00 PM (leaving 10.5 Miles remaining to Finish Line).

If you reach these locations AFTER the cutoff time and wish to continue, you will need to sign a letter of acknowledgement.

Where is race check-in?

Racers will check-in at the Snake Pit which is the lower gravel parking lot at the NWGA Trade and Convention Center (Snake Finish, Friday Night Registration / check-in from 5:00PM to 8PM)

How do I qualify for a Snake Belt Buckle?

Completing the 34 Miler on both dates will earn you the 2X34 belt buckle.

What is the payout for Money Class?

The Money Class is offered only for the 34 mile distance. Money Class payout is 3 deep. Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fastest time for the entire series. 1st will receive $500, 2nd will receive $350, 3rd Place will receive $200.

Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

If you have not raced any races in the series, you can transfer your registration. You cannot race one event and then transfer to another person, should you not be able to make the second event.

Are you providing shuttles to the start locations?

The First Student buses are allowing two riders per seat on the bus. If you would like to use the shuttle, we need you to pay $10 per race to ride the bus. YOU WILL NEED TO RESERVE YOUR SEAT ON THE BUS BY <strong>JAN. 31, 2025</strong>. RESERVE BY DONATING $10 on BikeReg when you register for the race. Wristbands will be given at Friday night check-in to those who paid their fee. If you can not check-in Friday night to get your wristband, please contact us for alternate arrangements.

There will be 80 spaces available for the early morning shuttles for bikes and riders from the SNAKE PIT @ The Dalton Convention Center to the start location of each race. We will not be officially shuttling riders back to the starting point after finishing the race. Please make your own arrangements for picking up your vehicle if self shuttling. Bus riders will need to pay the bus fee mentioned.

For the 34 Miler: Loading of trailers and buses at the SNAKE PIT will begin at 7:00am. The last shuttle will leave for Dry Creek no later than 7:45am. Timing at Dry Creek will start promptly at 9:00am to 9:30am.

For the 17 Miler: Loading of trailers and buses at the SNAKE PIT will begin at 8:30am. The last shuttle will leave for the SNAKE CREEK GAP parking lot at 9:00am. Timing for the 17 mile race will begin at 10:00am to 10:30am.

Can I send a proxy for check-in and pick up of my swag gift?

No, we need the actual participant to sign the waiver.
